Spanky - hit by car, rescued

I am hoping that Spanky will do better now that he is in a foster home and not in the sterile (though very caring) vet environment. He needs to finish his antibiotics and gain some weight before surgery on his pelvic and hip fractures will be safe.

Send good vibes to Vikki, his foster mom, and all her tricks for getting a sick dachshund to eat! He has a lot of catching up to do.

Sweet Spanky, such a young guy and so gentle. He was found hit by a car by county animal control. They called us when they realized his injuries were beyond their vet's skills. He is only about a year old. We took him in, but the next day he showed symptoms of pneumonia -- probably contracted at the shelter. He's recovering and on antibiotics now. Our vet bills for him so far have been more thatn $1000, and his surgery will be about $1850. We've paid the first bill, but need help to pay the next. He can't go to the surgeon for his pelvis repair until all his antibiotics are finished, so we have a couple of weeks to raise the money we need for his surgery. He came in skinny, and lost weight with the pneumonia, so we are also trying to fatten him up.
